In January my brother Gord, his partner Denise and Matt and I flew to Fort Myers, Florida to enjoy a 10 day holiday in Naples and the Florida Keys. Matt's parent's have a condo there that they graciously allowed us to use, so it was both an affordable and relaxing trip without all the little ones that usually occupy our time so thoroughly.
The shopping was amazing, the weather was so-so, but the time together laughing, swimming, and sharing memories was the best. Seeing my brother relaxed and all of us having so much fun were highlights for me. I think we laughed the hardest after visiting a gas station on the way back from Marathon in the Keys when Gord was buying icecream and Denise was in her bathingsuit and skirt. Florida was experiencing record low temperatures that day, which for us was still warm and tropical. The gas jockey took one look at the crazy customers buying icecream in their bathingsuits on the coldest day in record history and said, "Boy, where you from?" with a strong Afro-American accent. Gord told him we were from Canada to which the gas attendant replied, "Okay, that makes sense cause I just thought y'all were just crazy eating icecream on a day like today".
